This Is Going to Hurt

If you are a professing Christian man or young man who looks at porn and does the physical act that goes with it, you’re walking a well-worn path that leads to certain destruction—in this life and in the next.

That’s why I wrote this book. I want to play a role in saving your testimony, your marriage, your family, your job, your ministry, your life.

Radical Purity is an eight-week  challenge for Christian men. Your goal is simple: forsake porn and masturbation, and draw closer to the Lord. This is the plan I followed to attain sexual purity after 50 years of enslavement. It keeps me pure today by God’s grace.

Here’s how the Challenge works
Each day for eight weeks you will abstain from looking at porn and masturbating. You will read the day’s lesson and complete the homework. The lessons give you insights into sexual purity,  and the daily homework gives you insights into yourself. The lessons teach you. The homework transforms you.

You must do the homework to gain the victory
Knowledge isn’t enough. What you need to attain and maintain sexual purity is understanding plus obedience. You must discover what God requires of you, and then take decisive, ongoing action—regardless of the cost.

Transformation takes place in your heart, not in your intellect, through the effectual working of the Holy Spirit in your life as he reveals Christ to you, as He reveals the depth of your depravity to you, and as you obey Christ and get to know Him.

This transformation requires work on your part, so prepare yourself today to be very uncomfortable for the next eight weeks. But if you do the hard and messy internal work of self-examination and self-abasement, you reap the rewards.

How this Challenge is different
This Challenge takes a distinctly biblical approach that runs contrary to popular addiction-recovery models:

1. You are not a powerless addict needing recovery. You are a sinner needing repentance and God’s power.
2. Porn is not a disease requiring treatment. Pornography is a sin requiring forsaking.
3. You don’t need healing and therapy. You need the Holy Spirit and radical obedience.

This is your proven, biblical path to victory
I know from decades of experience that, in this sex-saturated world:

1. You can’t pluck out your right eye and cast it from you without a porn blocker and accountability app on your phone and all other electronic devices
2. You can’t gain victory over porn and masturbation on your own without accountability to a person
3. You can’t grow in spiritual power without reading God’s word and communing with Him each day

There’s no supernatural power in a Challenge like this, of course. And once the Challenge has ended, you won’t miraculously be delivered from sexual temptation and have a halo waiting for you. You will have just started your journey to radical purity.

But you will have the biblical understanding, the self-awareness and the proven resources you need to gain lasting victory over sexual temptation while you still have the chance.

True power to overcome besetting sexual sin comes from God alone as you understand His will, believe His promises, obey His precepts, and draw closer to Him. May He bless you as you begin your Radical Purity Challenge with Him.
