You, Friend of Sex Traffickers | Proverbs 2:10-15

You, Friend of Sex Traffickers | Proverbs 2:10-15

“When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked; whose ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths.”
Proverbs 2:10-15

Forty-nine percent of women who have worked as prostitutes report being filmed by their traffickers or customers. This video footage is often streamed or later distributed without their knowledge or consent. This means you have no way of knowing if the women in the porn you watch are willing participants. In many cases, they are not.

When you view pornography, you support human traffickers. You support the kind of men that Solomon warns you about, the men that speak perverse things, the men who walk in the ways of darkness, the men who rejoice in doing evil, the men who delight in the perversity of the wicked. Even if the porn you watch is free, it comes at a price for the women on the end of the camera. Seventy percent of female trafficking victims are trafficked into the commercial sex industry against their will.

If you are like most men, when you watch pornography, you imagine yourself on the same bed as the female who is being filmed. But a more accurate picture is to imagine yourself as the director. You aren’t the male on the bed enjoying the woman. You are the criminal behind the camera enjoying the profits. You are directing the action and exploiting the female victim for your gain. And, by the way, she is not an adult actress. She is not a porn star. She is a victim of a wicked industry that you support. She is very likely a victim of human trafficking, suffering at the hands of criminals that you help to keep in business.

If you want to be delivered from these evil men, and from your sexual sin, do as Solomon recommends. Let wisdom enter your heart. “Knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil.” You find this wisdom in God’s word, The Bible. When you read God’s word, meditate upon God’s word, and obey God’s word, you stop watching pornography. You stop creating the demand for the wickedness that the commercial sex industry creates. You avoid the crooked, devious men that God commands you to avoid.
