Jesus says you are to pluck out your right eye and cast it from you if that eye causes you to commit sexual sin (Matthew 5:27-28). Here’s how to do this online.
- If your smartphone causes you to sin, smash it into a thousand pieces and fling the fragments into several dumpsters across town. Then buy a dumb phone that gives you zero access to the internet (recovering heroin addicts don’t carry heroin in their pockets)
- Install an internet porn filter, such as Covenant Eyes, on all your devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone) so that you can’t access pornographic websites or apps anymore
- Delete your Facebook account if it causes you to look at inappropriate images and videos
- Delete your Twitter account if it causes you to watch porn
- Delete your Instagram account if it causes you to gape at women
- Delete your TikTok account if it tempts you to think sexually immoral thoughts about the women who post there
- Use the Site Blocking feature in Covenant Eyes (or the internet filter you use) to block all websites that are not classified as pornographic but that are still inappropriate for you to visit because they cause you to sin (news sites, photo-sharing sites, websites of female celebrities)
- Block access to YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and all other video-sharing sites that host inappropriate videos
- Remove all apps from your phone that cause you to look at sexual content
- Install accountability software, such as Covenant Eyes, on all your electronic devices so that if you do slip and watch anything pornographic, you and your accountability partner can discuss the setback and get you restored and back on track. Victory comes through accountability
- Stop clicking on headlines, links and video thumbnails that you know will lead you to websites that feature images and videos of women immodestly dressed
- If a sexy woman flirts with you on a social platform, discussion forum or other place online in a way that tempts you to visit her profile and lust after her, either block her or block your access for those platforms
If you are serious about never watching pornography again, abandon all half-measures. Take drastic, decisive action today. Pluck out your right eye and cast it from you. People will think you odd, call you a fanatic, even label you a legalist. Ignore them. When your eternal destiny is in the balance, no action you take this side of heaven is too radical or too costly. Christ is worth it.
