Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

When it comes to watching pornography, you have a choice. And I’m not talking about the choice to look or to not look, the choice to indulge or to abstain. I’m talking about the choice of whom you obey. Because porn is personal. Behind every pornographic image there’s a camera operator. And behind every camera operator there’s another person.
Paul tells us in his letter to the church in Rome that, “to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey.” If you are like me and countless other Christian men, you have read this verse for years but never taken the time to follow it to its logical conclusion. Let’s do that, shall we?
Q. When you are tempted to look at pornography, who is behind that temptation? Who is tempting you to sin?
A. The Devil.
Q. When the Devil tempts you with pornography, what does he want you to do, besides look at it and masturbate?
A. The Devil wants you to “present” yourself to him, that is, to offer yourself, to yield yourself, to him.
Q. When you offer yourself to Satan to obey him, what do you become?
A. A slave.
Q. Whose slave do you become?
A. Satan’s slave.
Q. What is the result of you offering yourself to the Devil, and becoming his slave, by sinning with pornography?
A. Your spiritual death. You are a slave to whom you obey, which is “sin leading to death.”
Q. What alternative is at your disposal every time you are tempted to look at pornography?
A. You are free to obey another master, someone other than the Devil.
Q. Who is that other master?
A. God.
Q. What is the result of you offering yourself to God, to obey Him instead?
A. Righteousness.
Q. When you are next tempted to watch pornography, whom will you obey?
