Fornication Needs Fuel | Isaiah 9:18

Not every man who consumes pornography becomes a serial killer, of course. But every serial killer consumes pornography.

“For wickedness burns as the fire; it shall devour the briers and thorns, and kindle in the thickets of the forest; they shall mount up like rising smoke.”
Isaiah 9:18

On the day before he died by execution in the electric chair, serial killer Ted Bundy shared his thoughts on pornography. He shared them with James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family. Bundy had spent almost 15 of the preceding years in prison with inmates guilty of similar crimes. He had spent a lot of time thinking about why he was where he was in life. Here’s what he told Dobson:

“I’ve lived in prison for a long time now, and I’ve met a lot of men who were motivated to commit violence. Without exception, every one of them was deeply involved in pornography, deeply consumed by the addiction. The F.B.I.’s own study on serial homicide shows that the most common interest among serial killers is pornography.”

Bundy admits that he kidnapped, raped and murdered young women and girls because of wicked urges fueled by pornography. Bundy stumbled upon softcore porn as a boy, and graduated to increasingly harder and more deviant forms of pornography that eventually led to his acting out his evil fantasies.

If you are a Christian man who views pornography habitually, learn a lesson from the life of Ted Bundy and every other serial killer. The main thing you have in common with all of them is porn. Porn is the fuel that fed their evil desires. Porn is the catalyst that took them from the realm of fantasy to the world of sexual offences. Porn is the one thing they refused to quit because fornication needs fuel.

Not every man who consumes pornography becomes a serial killer, of course. But every serial killer consumes pornography. Until it consumes them. If you want to avoid doing the time, avoid the crime. And if you want to avoid the crime, avoid the fuel—pornography.
